Bananas and strawberries are just a match made in heaven, that’s why this coconut strawberry and banana protein smoothie makes so much sense!
It’s so sweet without having any added sugars in! Just throw in a cup of ripe strawberries frozen or fresh, a banana, some milk, ice, and your favorite vanilla protein powder and you are all set to go. It’s so creamy and smooth. It’s so good!
To give it some extra substance we add a little bit of rolled oats that give it a slight bite whilst making it that little bit more filling.
Which is great first thing in the morning as a quick on-the-go smoothie recipe idea.
You could also add in some healthy nut butter or other fruits if you wanted to jazz it up a little.
We’ve even made it with chocolate protein powder, chocolate strawberries, and banana, another match made in heaven!
So, let’s get to making this sweet sweet perfection.
What you’ll need
Strawberries and a banana – you can use fresh or frozen, if you use frozen, you’ll get a thicker smoothie more in the consistency of sorbet which is amazing by the way.
Milk – we love to use coconut milk, the dairy milk alternative not the canned thick and creamy kind, because it adds a sweet coconut taste to the smoothie. If you’re not a fan of coconut then feel free to use any other plant-based milk or dairy.
Oats – we like big rolled old-fashioned oats as they add more texture, but you can use whatever you have to hand as they all get blitzed in the blender.
Ice – ice is optional and will make your smoothie thicker the more you add.
Protein powder– the protein is, of course, optional but if you want the added protein to make this a post-workout smoothie or snack that will carry you between meals then the extra protein is advised. It also adds some extra flavor. We like to use vanilla protein powder.
